Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad
The 17-acre site is adjacent to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, along MD 335 will officially be open on March 11, 2017. The state park will be a key destination for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway.
Site features to include:
- Exhibit building, complete with exhibits, research library and gift shop
- Sculptures of Harriet Tubman
- Legacy Garden
- Open-Air pavilion
March 11-12, 2017 will be full of family-friendly activities to celebrate the grand opening of the Harriet Tubman Visitor Center. Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway
A series of 17 custom-designed, historical markers are installed at sights along the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway through out Dorchester and Caroline Counties. Guests can follow the byway and learn about the heritage and hardships of the Underground Railroad Conductor, Harriet Tubman. Catch a glimpse of the scenic byway.
