Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park

The 17-acre site is adjacent to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, along MD 335 and is slated to open in March 2017.  The state park will be a key destination for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway. 


Site features to include:

  • Exhibit building, complete with exhibits, research library and gift shop
  • Sculptures of Harriet Tubman
  • Legacy Garden
  • Open-Air pavilion




Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway

A series of 17 custom-designed, historical markers are installed at sights along the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway through out Dorchester and Caroline Counties.  Guests can follow the byway and learn about the heritage and hardships of the Underground Railroad Conductor, Harriet Tubman.
